Foil, spot-UV, silk, and soft-touch—the same premium finishes as our business cards, at postcard size.
“I cannot thank this company enough! My business cards are absolutely fabulous and I have received so many compliments on them. The pictures will not do them justice. I got the suede finish, 48 pt thick cards with silver foil on one side and the edges. They are so luxurious.”
See the finishes on screen. Confirm the decision in your hand. Your free sample kit lets you feel foil, spot-UV, silk, and soft-touch on premium stock — and see how the colors really print — before you commit.
Our custom design service turns your logo, colors, and direction into a complete front-and-back postcard — with correct bleed, safe zones, and a clean address side, and any foil or spot-UV set up to register perfectly. Already have print-ready artwork? Upload it and skip the design charge.
A commodity postcard says "I printed something." A finished one says the sender is serious — before a single word is read. The finish is the credibility.
Foil, spot-UV, silk, and soft-touch do the work a flat print can't: they signal that whoever sent this cared. That signal is the whole point of mailing something physical.
Premium stock has real weight in the hand. It survives the mailbox without curling and reads as intentional the moment it's picked up.
The same craft as our business cards — foil, spot-UV, die-cut shapes and rounded corners, edge paint, emboss/deboss — just at postcard size. Same process, larger canvas.
A postcard people set on the counter, pin to the board, or hand to someone else — not the one that goes straight to the bin.
Every SilkCards postcard is 16pt — the premium weight that arrives flat and feels like it cost something. The choice isn't how thick it is; it's how it feels in the hand. Silk 16pt is smooth and luminous, the default premium base. Suede 16pt is a soft-touch velvet upgrade you notice before you read a word.
Smooth, luminous coated surface. The default premium base — and the best surface for foil and spot-UV. Priced on this page.
Soft-touch velvet feel — warm, matte, unmistakably premium on contact. The same three sizes and finishes, priced on request.
Upgrade to Suede 16pt — the same three sizes and finishes with a soft-touch, velvet feel. Priced on request.
The entire SilkCards finish library applies to postcards — same process, larger size. This is the whitespace: while everyone else prints flat, your postcard can be felt.
Metallic — gold, silver, copper, and more — that catches the light and the eye first.

Just-listed and just-sold cards that look like the agent behind them means business. Large formats for direct mail.
02Designed to mail: heavy stock that arrives flat and a finish that gets the piece picked up instead of binned.
03Foil and soft-touch save-the-dates and invitations people actually keep on the fridge.
04Offers and announcements that stand out in a stack — the finish does the interrupting.
05Greetings and seasonal cards with foil or spot-UV that feel like a gift, not a flyer.
06Durable, wipeable menu and table cards with a finish that matches the room.
A flat postcard competes on price. A finished one competes on nothing — because there's nothing else in the mailbox like it. Foil, spot-UV, and embossed detail turn a mailer into a piece people set down instead of tossing — and Suede 16pt gives the whole card a soft-touch, velvet feel.
Direct answers on sizes, stock, premium finishes, mailing, color, artwork, and production.
We print three standard sizes: 4x6 (the classic, most-recognized postcard and the right default for most mailers and handouts), 5x7 (a larger, more premium footprint for save-the-dates and invitations), and 6x9 (a large format that commands the mailbox and is well suited to direct mail). If you're deciding by impact, larger sizes stand out more in a stack; if you're deciding by value, 4x6 is the efficient workhorse.
Postcards print on premium 16pt stock in two surfaces: Silk 16pt (smooth and luminous — the default premium base, and the pricing shown on this page) and Suede 16pt (a soft-touch velvet upgrade, priced on request). Both are the same premium 16pt weight — the choice is how the card feels, not how thick it is — and most projects stay on 16pt. Heavier-feeling stock reads as higher quality in the hand and stands up better to mailing and handling.
Yes. The SilkCards finish library applies to postcards — same process, larger size: foil, spot-UV, die-cut shapes and rounded corners, edge paint, and emboss / deboss. A soft-touch, velvet surface comes from choosing the Suede 16pt stock rather than a separate finish. These premium finishes are exactly what commodity postcard printers don't offer, and they're the reason a SilkCards postcard gets kept instead of tossed.
Postcards are designed to mail. Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) Retail only accepts larger flat pieces — at least one side longer than 10½ inches or taller than 6⅛ inches — so our 4x6, 5x7 and 6x9 sizes do not qualify for it on their own; if you are planning an EDDM mailing, ask us about a custom size. USPS publishes the current rules in its EDDM-Retail size guide. SilkCards prints and finishes your postcards; you or your mailing partner handle the actual mailing, postage, and any EDDM submission. If mailing setup matters to your project, tell us and our design help team will make sure the address side and any indicia area are laid out correctly.
Screens show color in light (RGB); print reproduces it in ink (CMYK), so some shift is normal — which is exactly why we recommend confirming before a full run. Order a free sample kit to see how our stock and finishes reproduce color, and request a proof of your artwork before production so there are no surprises. Building files in CMYK gives the most predictable result.
Production takes about 6 working days after you approve your proof; added finishes can extend it, and shipping is separate. If you have a deadline, tell us at order time. For files: supply print-ready artwork at 300 DPI or higher, in CMYK, with 0.1-inch bleed on all sides and important text kept inside the safe zone away from the trim. Vector files print best; we'll flag anything that needs adjusting before printing.
4x6 inches is the standard, most-recognized postcard size and the most popular choice for mailers and handouts. 5x7 and 6x9 are larger options when you want more presence — 6x9 in particular is a common large-format direct-mail size.
Yes. The front prints in full color, and you choose the back when you build; a full-color back is added to the base price. Most postcards use the front for the message or image and the back for details and, when mailed, the address and message area.
Yes. We can leave the lamination off, so the coated stock takes a pen — the right choice when you or the recipient need to handwrite a note or an address on the card. Lamination looks richer and protects the print but resists ink, so tell us in your order notes and we'll match the surface to how the card will be used.
Postcard pricing starts at 100 pieces, so small campaigns and events are welcome. Because you order directly from SilkCards, the price you see is the real price rather than a reseller markup.
That's the point of premium stock. Heavier card stock resists curling and arrives flat, and laminated and coated finishes add a layer that protects the print through handling and the mailbox. It's the difference customers notice most: a postcard that feels substantial and still looks sharp when it lands.
Choose the size, add the finish, and see your price as you build — then order the piece your message deserves.
