“I cannot thank this company enough! My business cards are absolutely fabulous and I have received so many compliments on them. The pictures will not do them justice. I got the suede finish, 48 pt thick cards with silver foil on one side and the edges. They are so luxurious.”

12mil is about 0.30 mm — roughly a third the thickness of a credit card. It is solid PVC, not coated paper, so it resists water and tearing and flexes easily without creasing. It is the lighter, lower-cost plastic stock, made for promotions, handouts, and shorter campaigns. When a card needs credit-card heft for daily wallet carry, that is 30mil at about 0.76 mm.
Choose 12mil when the card is lighter-duty or high-volume — promotions, handouts, and short campaigns where credit-card heft is not required, and where cost per card matters most. Choose 30mil when the card has to last: membership cards, loyalty cards, gift cards, IDs, and anything meant for daily wallet carry and repeated scanning. Both stocks are priced openly — this page for 12mil, the 30mil page for 30mil — so you can compare the real totals side by side before deciding.
Pricing is shown openly on this page. Choose a quantity in the table above and the complete starting price appears — full color, both sides, before any optional add-ons — and each add-on lists its own price so you can see exactly what a total includes. Orders start at 500 cards. Prices update here automatically whenever they change, which is why they are not repeated in this answer.
Yes. 12mil cards are solid PVC plastic, not coated paper, so they resist water, shrug off tearing, and will not soften or fray the way a paper card does. They are thinner and more flexible than 30mil, which makes them ideal for handouts and shorter campaigns. If the card needs to survive years of wallet carry, key-ring use, and repeated scanning, the thicker 30mil stock is the better choice.
One: a clean white semi-gloss. 12mil is the value stock, and the single surface is part of what keeps it lower-cost. If you want a choice of surfaces — Gloss, Silk, Frosted, or Pearlescent — those are offered on our thicker 30mil stock, and each has its own page with its own pricing.
Not on 12mil — this is the lighter, value stock, at about a third the thickness of a credit card. For a thick, hard, credit-card-stock card, see our 30mil plastic cards: solid PVC at 0.76 mm, the premium stock used for durable, high-impact cards ordered in quantity. If you want a single professional’s plastic business card with foil, Spot UV, or Silk lamination, see our Plastic Business Cards page.
Barcodes and QR codes, sequential numbering and variable data (a different code, number or detail on every card, from a list you send us), signature panels, scratch-off PINs, foil, backside printing, and hole or lanyard punches. Magnetic stripes and embossed numbering are not available on 12mil — those need the thicker 30mil stock. Each add-on shows its own price on this page, and it helps to tell us what system the card must work with so we can confirm the right setup before production.
Yes. Our $99 custom design service pairs you with a designer who turns your logo, colors, or a rough idea into a production-ready front and back — including where any scan code, number field, or signature panel sits. Already have print-ready artwork? Upload it and skip the design charge.
The minimum is 500 cards. Every order is produced to your specifications and quality-checked before it ships. Because you order directly from SilkCards, our team can support the project from artwork and feature setup through production.
Standard production is 12 working days after artwork approval. Some add-ons, such as certain magnetic-stripe encoding or large variable-data runs, can extend that slightly. If you have a deadline, tell us at order time and we will confirm the schedule before production starts.
